95.1 Mhz RADYO KASANGGAYAHAN COMMUNITY FM
SORSOGON STATE COLEGE SORSOGON CITY, SORSOGON

History

On 4 November MQ Mediazone Productions facilitated the forging of a Memorandum of Agreement between the National Nutrition Council (NNC), Sorsogon State College (SSC), and the Sorsogon Broadcasting Cooperative (SBC) to put up a Nutriskwela community radio station, now known as 95.1 Mhz Radyo Kasanggayahan Community FM. Kasanggayan is a Bicolano word which broadly describes tranquility, happiness, and prosperity in life.

SSC is one of the oldest trade schools in the Philippines. The College is a center of excellence where four vocational schools in the province are integrated. Each of the four campuses located in strategic municipalities of the province cater to particular field of expertise like, Teacher Education and Food Technology Management, Agriculture and Agriculture Based Technology, Business and Information and Communication Technology and Fisheries Technology and Resource Development.

The SBC is a new federation of media practitioners in the city. The group’s aim is to encourage broadcast journalists to engage in and support developmental communications, and help in information dissemination and education campaigns on social development advocacies. The SBC also aims to capacitate hopeful community broadcasters and journalists through transfer of technology.

The NNC-SSC-SBC MOA was signed by NNC Executive Director, Assistant Secretary Maria-Bernardita T. Flores, SSC President Dr. Antonio Fuentes, Ed.D., and SBC President Mr. Ismael Lopez.

The alliance between the SSC and the SBC is ideal in carrying out the NNC’s advocacy on malnutrition eradication and prevention.

The Radyo Kasanggayahan broadcast studio is located at SSC Main Campus Admission Building.
